Ashford's Central Park play area in Park Farm opens after £400,000 upgrade
A new play area has opened after a £400,000 upgrade.
Central Park in Park Farm, Ashford, is open to the public after two months of work, although there is still more equipment to come.
The renovated site includes an accessible roundabout, a toddlers' multiplay unit with a slide, and a sensory play area as part of plans to improve access to free health and wellbeing activities.
Work began on the Park Farm play area in September and also includes a new outdoor gym, which has replaced the current infant play area.
Ashford Borough Council has been working on £1.1m 'play regeneration programme' to improve four play areas in the town throughout this year after plans were approved last year in September.
Other sites include Rylands Road in Kennington which has had £340,000 invested in, as well as Spearpoint Recreation Ground, also in Kennington, and an outdoor gym in Hunter Avenue in Willesborough.
ABC announced the opening of the site in Park Farm on Facebook.
"We are delighted to announce that the brand new play area at Central Park, Park Farm is now open," bosses wrote.
"Please be aware we are still waiting on final pieces of equipment, however wanted to open it for everyone to enjoy in the meantime.
"Once everything is in place a grand opening will be arranged, so watch this space!
"We hope the weather is kind for everyone to explore the new equipment."
