Medway musician Emma Davis launches Musical Bumps classes in Kent
A musician who has performed all over the world is hoping to inspire the next generation as she launches classes in her home town.
Emma Davis graduated with a first class music degree after playing piano and singing in choirs since childhood.
She has performed in the USA, Argentina, Uruguay, Kenya, France, Germany and Norway, as well as all over the UK.
But now she has launched something a little closer to home - music classes for little ones.
Musical Bumps is designed to give babies, toddlers and pre-school children an early introduction to music in a relaxed and friendly way. Emma is running classes in Wigmore and Rochester.
The former Rochester Grammar School pupil said: “I believe that music is so important in the early years of a child because it develops a huge range of skills and has lifelong benefits.
"Watching the children progress, bond with their carers, and grow in confidence is wonderful to see - and the best part is that they’re having so much fun at the same time.”
Musical Bumps was set up in 2002 by mum Sarah Marsh, who also grew up in Medway, when she was unable to find a music group to share with her children that both fulfilled her musical expectations and gave her the opportunity to enjoy social time with her babies.
The franchise business was launched the following year and classes are now held all over the country.
Sarah said: “Our teachers all come from a musical background and have a real passion for sharing their love of music with young children and their families.
"We are so pleased to have Emma as part of an excellent team who all work extremely hard to ensure that they deliver outstanding music classes.”
To celebrate the Medway launch, Musical Bumps is holding free sessions this week. The first was held today and there will be another opportunity to join one on Thursday.
