New musical Bedknobs and Broomsticks to stop at Marlowe Theatre and Orchard Theatre in first UK tour
Disney's award-winning family film Bedknobs and Broomsticks is to be turned into a new stage musical and will come to two Kent theatres on it's first tour.
The exciting new stage production will be given its world premiere in August next year.
Performances begin at Newcastle's Theatre Royal on Saturday, August 14 ahead of a UK tour which will bring see it make two stops in the county.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks follows three orphaned Rawlins children who are reluctantly evacuated from wartime London to live with the mysterious Eglantine Price.
After discovering Eglantine to be a trainee witch, they join forces to search for a secret spell that will defeat the enemy once and for all and armed with an enchanted bedknob, a bewitched broomstick and a magical flying bed, they encounter surprising new friendships on their journey from Portobello Road to the depths of the beautiful briny sea.
Theatregoers are being promised a pass into this world of magic with those behind the production set to incorporate some of the film's original songs alongside new music.
It's arrival in Kent is set to be music to the ears of two of the county's biggest theatres which have struggled this year to manage the huge loss of income caused by the coronavirus struck which has seen theatres shut and shows cancelled.
The new musical will first come to The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury from Wednesday, August 25 until Sunday, August 29 before a second stop in Dartford towards the end of the tour between Wednesday, November 24 and Sunday, November 28.
