It is the second new programme announcement from CBeebies in the past fortnight - last week it confirmed British actor Tom Hardy would launch a special week of stories from Monday, April 27.

Each episode sees the singer-songwriter searching for ideas for a new song he wants to produce from the setting of his quirky caravan.

And Nick is not alone on his songwriting journey as the programme also introduces youngsters to his adorable companion Norman the Whippet who he has for company.

Producers have made 15 programmes, each lasting 10 minutes.

Each episode sees Nick take inspiration from his surroundings and from The Popcasters - a team of young children who give him ideas and topics to write and sing about.

Nick sits down to write an original song each week and when the tune is ready, the Popcast machine is powered up to bring the music to life.

With songs including ‘The Baby’s Done a Poo’, ‘I’m a Little Lizard’ and ‘A Round of Applause for the Dinosaurs’, Nick Cope’s Popcast will bring 'spectacular visuals' and 'charming songs' say those behind the new show.

Head of content, BBC Children’s, Cheryl Taylor said: “We’re delighted to have Nick join the CBeebies team to provide us with his quirky and truly original songs for families to enjoy together. Along with stunning visuals and fun filled animation this has all the hallmarks of a pre-school hit!”

The episodes will be aired on Saturday mornings from this week at 9.20am. The entire series Nick Cope's Popcast will also be available to watch as a boxset on BBC iPlayer.

The BBC has also stepped in to help parents homeschool with 14 weeks of lessons, shows and podcasts. Learn more here.
