Things to do this weekend in Kent including Paws in the Park and Canterbury's Duck Race 2019

From dog displays to duck races there are some fun things happening in Kent this weekend. And with the good weather expected to arrive as well, it looks like it might be a cracking weekend in the county!

1. Millbrook Butterfly Experience, Southfleet

Until Saturday, September 14

Saturday sees the final day of a garden centre's summer attraction. The Butterfly Experience is a tropical indoor garden in which visitors can watch free-flying butterflies. It is open 11am until 4pm and tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for children.

2. Westerham Country Fayre

Saturday, September 14

Country crafts, activities, produce, local stalls, entertainment, food, drink, music, a family trail and a horticultural show can all be found on Westerham Green on Saturday.

There will be lots to entertain families including Punch and Judy shows, chainsaw carving demonstrations and bee-keepers with a skeleton hive for families to see what is happening inside. Further details available here.

3. Paws in the Park, Kent Showground, Detling

Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15

Thousands are expected to descend on Detling with their dogs this weekend for the annual Paws in the Park event. In the arena will be displays and demonstrations from guide dogs, gun dogs and agility teams whilst pooches can win prizes in various competitions taking place across the weekend. There will also be a vast range of indoor and outdoor trade stands for owners and their pets to snap up everything from food and treats to collars, leads and coats. 4. Heritage Open Days, various locations

From Friday, September 12 until Sunday, September 22

Hundreds of events are taking place in this free festival of history and discovery which launches this week.

5. Classic Car Show and Family Fun Day, Kenward Trust, Yalding

Sunday, September 15

It's just £2 to enter this classic car show and family fun day - with children under 12 free! The event takes place between 10am and 4pm. As well as the car show and fun day is Kenward Trust's woodland walk, children's play area and friendly animals, including a family of alpacas! 6. Duck Race 2019, Westgate Gardens, Canterbury

Sunday, September 15

The Rotary Club's annual duck race will set sail down the Stour on Sunday, September 15. Sponsor a duck and cheer it on alongside friends and family at this fun event in the Westgate Gardens.

More ducks than ever before are set to line up this year with money raised going towards both local and international causes.

7. Apple Sunday, Mount Ephraim Gardens, Faversham

Sunday, September 15

Apple tours, live music, bird of prey displays, face painting and children's crafts all make up Apple Sunday at Mount Ephraim Gardens this weekend. The West Wing Tea Room will also be serving up apple cakes, tarts and pulled pork rolls with apple sauce as part of the celebration.
