Pixar film Luca arrives on Disney+ from Friday, June 18 for streaming subscribers
The weather may have taken a turn but movie fans can be transported to the Italian Riviera from today, thanks to Pixar's new picturesque film Luca.
The family-friendly tale about a little boy and his friend, who are secret sea monsters, has swum onto Disney+ just in time for the weekend.
Luca and Alberto come from a life under the sea, but thanks to their human disguises they come ashore to enjoy a summer of adventure, riding scooters, eating ice creams and pasta and getting to know the locals.
But the fact that the best friends are supposed to live under the water is a closely guarded secret – at least for now – as the pair continue to explore an alternative and exciting life on land in this charming coming-of-age story, which is set in the fictional 'human town' town of Portorosso and depicts a magical nostalgic view of Italian summers.
How to watch Luca from Friday
The Pixar-made original film arrives on Disney+ from today (Friday, June 18) and could provide the ideal antidote for anyone looking to escape the latest Euro2020 football fixtures or the weekend's forecast for rain and distinctly cooler temperatures.
And unlike other hotly-anticipated recent Disney releases, such as last month's Cruella and before that Mulan which at first premiered for an additional fee, Luca is available to Disney+ subscribers for no extra charge, just like Pixar-produced Soul, which was released at Christmas.
New and existing customers signed up to the streaming service will be able to watch Luca from today as part of their existing paid-for subscription, which currently costs £7.99 a month or £79.90 for a year.
