Maidstone Mela returns to Mote Park with world music, food and dance
An extravaganza of around-the-world music, food and dance is back.
The annual Maidstone Mela will be returning to Mote Park on Sunday, September 8.
The colourful event will kick off at 12pm with performances from a circus group originating from the Indian red city of Rajasthan.
There will be fusion percussion beats from Kings of Dhol, remixes from DJ Amit and vocals by award-winning musician H-Dhami.
And, Ella Akyurek will be giving soulful renditions of music icons Adele and Amy Winehouse.
Local groups, Maidstone Indian Association, Maidstone Malayalee, Kerala Culture Association and Maidstone Nepalese Community group will all also be taking to the stage.
Tribute act Kings of Motown will draw the evening to a close before it ends at 6pm.
As well as vibrant entertainment, there will be stalls featuring a range of international cuisines.
The event, which is in its 21st year will be hosted by arts charity, Cohesion Plus in partnership with Maidstone Culture Group, Arts Council England and UNISON Kent.
