The Snowman flies onto the stage in Canterbury this week. Based on the book by Raymond Briggs and the 1982 film which featured the hit song Walking in the Air, this on-stage version is set to melt your heart.

If you fancy taking the kids somewhere a bit quirky head to Teapot Island. With more than 7,600 different teapots, Teapot Island is home to the biggest collection in the UK. They range from Darth Vader to Churchill, Wallace and Gromit to royalty. There is also a brilliant little cafe where you can grab a bite to eat - and of course a much needed cuppa.

Beauty and the Beast Playhouse Theatre Whitstable

Running to Sunday, January 28

Head to the Playhouse Theatre this weekend to find out if love really can conquer all. This traditional family pantomime is being presented by the Lindley Players so expect lots of fun, audience interaction and really, really bad jokes. Tickets can be booked online or on 01227 272042.

Once part of the 18th century estate created by Thomas Douce, nature has reclaimed much of the estate, and there are plenty of hidden corners to explore in the 52 acres. Stroll by the lake, or take the children to the play area at Douce’s Meadow, where there are picnic tables and space for ball games. The park is open from 9am to dusk. There's also a well-attended 2k Park Run for children aged four to 14 every Sunday morning.

Fancy getting out of the cold? Kids will love to spend a few hours at Manic Monsters playing on the two huge play frames. Each frame has a kart track as wells as slides, tunnels and swings - kid heaven! After burning off all that energy, you can grab a snack in the on-site cafe where children's meals cost around £3.50.
