Dreamland in Margate to host Camp Bestival takeover for Easter
One of the country's biggest family festivals is going on holiday - to Margate.
Every year thousands of families flock to Camp Bestival in Dorset, which takes place for three days at the end of July.
But DJ and festival curator Rob da Bank has announced plans this week to take Camp Bestival on the road for an Easter session at Dreamland Margate.
Dreamland opens on Saturday, April 6 and will be starting its season with a full Camp Bestival takeover for the school holidays.
Alongside all of Dreamland's regular rides and attractions, Camp Bestival is bringing on the tour three of its most familiar installations - the well-known eight-metre high Love Bot, a Bollywood chill-out zone and the world's biggest bouncy castle.
Dreamland will be free to enter with visitors either choosing to buy an unlimited ride wristband or pay per ride as well as the option of purchasing slots for the bouncy castle during the Easter event which will run from Wednesday to Sunday each week.
The festivities will culminate on Saturday, April 21 with a Camp Bestival Party.
This will include a line-up of DJ sets including one from Rob da Bank himself, family activities, yoga and meditation with more acts to be announced say organisers.
Rob da Bank said: "Some of our young audience say that Camp Bestival is better than Christmas, and who are we to argue? So this collaboration is gonna be like Christmas, your birthday and New Year’s Eve all rolled into one as Camp Bestival decamps to Margate and lands in the most amazing adventure space we can think of - Dreamland.
"Make sure you pay us a visit during the holidays and head to our Easter Sunday party as we host everything from yodelling gigolos The Cuban Brothers to epic brass bands, soul choirs, a drum and bass roller disco and some restorative yoga flows. Put it in your diary, or your kids will not forgive you. See you by the Love-Bot!”
Camp Bestival itself takes place this year in Lulworth Cove from Thursday, July 25.
Headline acts for 2019 include Jess Glynn, Nile Rogers & Chic and Annie Mac as well as a raft of other shows, live music, comedy, activities and entertainment with appearances from Mister Maker, Mel C and Sara Cox.
The festival will also include an appearance from Kent-based parents and popular Instagrammers Clemmie and Simon Hooper as part of a recently announced Parenting Programme.
The event at Dreamland Margate will include no camping or overnight activities but organisers hope to recreate Camp Bestival's family feel good vibe in Margate.
