One of Kent's most popular attractions has reopened its grounds and gardens to visitors.

Hever Castle is welcoming families with a pre-booked ticket following the latest relaxation of lockdown rules.

The site, which was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, said it welcomed the recent updates to government guidelines that now 'allow private gardens to reopen as an alternative space to spend time outdoors'.

Anyone wishing to come to Hever Castle will need to pre-book a ticket online, for a specific date and time.

The rule, which also applies to annual members, will ensure castle staff can control visitor numbers and help ensure everyone can abide by the 2M social distancing advice.

A one-way system has been put in place around the venue and there are stations for hand sanitiser should people wish to use them. It's toilet blocks will also be open, although fresh limits on the number of people able to enter at once have also been put in place.

For the time being, the cafes and kiosks serving food and drink remain closed, but the castle says it has spent the lockdown preparing picturesque picnic spots to allow families to bring their own food and make the most of time outside this summer in the castle's grounds.

The Castle is also closed but the visitor information centre is open for anyone needing help and advice whilst the shop, currently selling plants, will reopen later this month.
