A giant zip wire has been installed inside a Kent's attraction's new play area.

Penshurst Place says it is making 'major improvements' to its adventure playground.

Alongside a 30-ft zip wire which now takes pride of place in the outdoor area, is a specially-made new obstacle challenge complete with military-style scramble net.

Work is also underway to transform the existing mound into a fortified castle for youngsters.

The mound is currently home to a number of tunnels for children to clamber through but will soon also boast a trench and embankments.

With swings, slides and climbing frames already in place along with a junior play area, Penshurst Place in Tonbridge says it hopes the changes will make the adventure playground an exciting attraction for children aged 12 and under.

Work in the playground is not the only changes Penshurst Place is making.

It says its Maize Maze will be bigger and better than ever this year, with three separate puzzles for explorers to solve.

The woodland trail has also been overhauled for 2018, to make it even more family friendly. Children have always made dens in the woods surrounding Penshurst Place, but they will be offered a helping hand this spring with branches and other natural materials positioned around the trail for families to use specifically for building their camp creations.

Ben Thomas, general manager at Penshurst Place & Gardens said: “It is a privilege to welcome so many families to Penshurst Place throughout the open season, and we believe these new improvements will allow both new and returning visitors to get even more out of their day with us.”
