M&S Easter chocolates The Ombles voiced by Whistable pupil in new Instagram campaign video
A little girl from Kent has provided the voices for the first new characters to be launched by M&S in 30 years.
Little Ruby Morgan from Whistable is behind the noises and sounds that new sweet treats The Ombles make in their social media debut. Scroll down to watch the video.
The newly launched chocolate Ombles Family are part of the department store's 2021 Easter range and are Belgian milk chocolate faces smothered in chocolate flakes.
M&S has launched a marketing campaign to unveil the chocolate family to the world of social media with the 10-year-old providing the voices - or noises - the tasty characters make.
The campaign, now running on Instagram, was heavily influenced by the team at the M&S food store on the Prospect Retail Park in Whitstable where Ruby's mum Sarah Morgan is store manager.
The Whitstable team inspired the Ombles campaign with their popular stop motion videos, which they make themselves and post to the store's social media channels including its popular Facebook page.
When Sarah drafted in help from daughter, Ruby, to provide a voice for the mischievous Ombles for a store video clip, it was a stand-out success.
Director of Food Marketing Sharry Cramond said: ‘What brilliant creativity the team at M&S Whitstable have – they really were instrumental in inspiring The Ombles campaign we have just released on our social channels.
"I was thrilled to learn that it was the lovely Ruby, who at just 10 years old, put voice to The Ombles and just had to get her involved in this nationwide campaign."
Ruby lent her voice to a professional recording of The Ombles voices for M&S, which is now being shared with its 1.8M social media followers in a series of videos which see the curious characters explore their new home in an M&S store.
Sarah Morgan, Whistable store manager and Ruby's mum, said: ‘I am a very proud mummy right now, and absolutely thrilled that Ruby has been used as the voice of The Ombles. I have worked at M&S for 26 years, so Ruby is an M&S-er through and through. She absolutely loves The Ombles and jumped at the chance to provide the voice for them for a big M&S social campaign like this.’
"Ruby definitely has aspirations to be a voice-over artist now!’
