Bridgerton's Duke Regé-Jean Page will read a Mother's Day Cbeebies Bedtime Story

Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page is to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story for Mother’s Day.

The actor, who shot to fame playing the Duke of Hastings in the hugely popular Netflix period drama, will take to the sofa on Sunday, March 14.

He will read Rain Before Rainbows by Smriti Halls and David Litchfield about a girl and her companion fox who travel together from a place of loss and despair, through uncertain times, towards the hope of colour, light and life. They learn that, in the midst of rain, rainbows can be hard to see but, with courage and the help of good friends, there is always a way out of darkness.

Rege's appearance, at 6.50pm, is part of a week-long special of stories with singer Rag 'n' Bone Man and Felicity Jones amongst the other big names set to read the nation's children their story before bed.

On Monday, March 25, Rag n Bone Man will read My Dad Used to be So Cool a funny and relatable story about a dad who was in a band but who is no longer the cool guy he once was before actress Felicity Jones reads apt story, The Huffalots, on Tuesday.

Here a Mum wakes up her Huffalots to find they are grumpy but eventually, with the help of a big cuddle, they become Lovealots. But it's been a long day and Mum is now grumpy and tired.

Felicity tells the audience: “Now, I’ll tell you a secret. Lots of us grown-ups can feel ourselves turning into Huffalots as the day goes on. But luckily we’ve got our Lovealots to cheer us up……remember, a Huffalot can always become a Lovelot, with a little bit of help.”

Thursday will see the return of popular Tom Hardy reading Somebody Swallowed Stanley, a thought-provoking story about the eventful journey made by Stanley, who is no ordinary jellyfish and eventually turns out after being swallowed by a number of unsuspecting animals that he's a plastic bag.

To finish the week there will be a story read in support of Comic Relief with further details about the special read to be released soon.
