Disney's I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book is this year's KM Walk to School Song Contest chosen number

Younsgters with The X Factor can show their stuff with the KM Walk to School Song Contest.

Primary and nursery school children are invited to take part in the competition which could see them recording a track in a professional music studio.

This year’s track to perform is “I Wanna Be Like You” from Disney’s The Jungle Book.

Schools, classes, walking buses or just groups of friends are eligible to enter and a total of six finalist groups will be invited to record their song at a leading studio.

The overall winners will be invited to perform their rendition at two major events in 2017: the KM Walk to School Awards and walk to school and literacy celebration Buster’s Big Bash.

Schools can create original lyrics for the song, or simply provide a cover version. Backing music is not essential and points will be awarded to the most creative entries.

All entries must be received by June 1.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team which organises the competition, said: “With the KM Walk to School Song Contest, children really can sing to win, and now is the time for groups to come together and submit their entries. we are very excited to hear everyone’s fantastic versions of this year’s track!”

The competition is organised by the Walk to School division of the KM Charity Team in association with Independent Music Productions (IMP).
